We produce a wide range of Epoxy and Polyurethane applications and Custom-cast Electrical applications which lower processing costs, improve product quality and boost profitability.
Since 1981, we have dedicated ourselves to staying on the leading edge of technical innovation, creating solutions tailored to customer needs and processes.
Today our dedicated and knowledgeable workforce produces applications embraced by companies in the United States, Mexico, Australia and the Far East.
But our philosophy hasn’t changed. We still measure our success by yours.
Breaking the Ice
Crosslink’s history of creating innovations that are game changers started early. In 1982, company founders Karl Egenberger and John Ulcar went to one of Toronto’s most exclusive private curling clubs and found young curlers playing with coffee cans filled with cement. They had no alternative to the standard granite stones that were too heavy for them to use.
After extensive trial and development, Crosslink produced an epoxy-based "Modular Rock” that curled just like granite but at half the weight. Receiving the stamp of approval from curling legends Ed Werenich and Earl Hushegan, the new stones began to sell in large numbers in curling clubs across Canada.
Crosslink has since become known as a leading problem solver in the thermoset plastics industries, developing many breakthrough solutions.
Beating the Early Bird
Crosslink has always believed in creating solutions that are flexible and provide real value. We were approached by a Florida company with woodpecker problems. The wood-loving birds pecked holes in utility poles (some large enough to fit 10-inch nests deep inside), so that the structural damage would make them snap and topple over.
Utility companies found using existing products, such as epoxy or cement fillers, to patch the damage ineffective. They were messy, repelled linesmen gaff hooks and would create stress points in the poles, making them vulnerable to breaking in high winds. As a result, the companies would usually just replace the damaged poles.
To address the issue, and save the cost and trouble of pole replacement, our team formulated 1:1 ratio urethane system called Pecker Patch that is gaffable, durable, easy to apply and flexible, allowing the poles to bend without breaking in high winds.
Buoyed by its money-saving potential, ease of application and catchy name, Pecker Patch has become increasingly popular among utility clients.
With the same spirit of innovation, the Crosslink team went on to develop Triathane. This three-compound urethane system is designed to provide processors with a convenient and less labour-intensive method of achieving a range of cured hardness properties simply by combining the same urethane components in various pre-determined ratios. Before this, customers would have had to keep in stock a much larger inventory of products.
